Research Associate, Interim Management

Dan Porter is an integral part of our Interim Management team. As a Researcher, he provides intelligence that is essential to our candidate search process. Dan handles a broad range of appointments for clients ranging from SMEs to FTSE 100 businesses. He also helps ensure that our clients’ needs are met efficiently by managing our network of high-performing interim executives.

My story

After graduating with a Masters in Nutrition I spent five years in Australia, much of which was spent working for an outback work organisation. Based on a cattle station in outback Queensland, we hosted participants from all over the world for week-long farm training programmes – teaching them the tricks of the trade before placing them into jobs on farms all over Australia. After returning to the UK in 2014 I soon found Savannah and was lucky enough to be offered the opportunity to join the Interim Management team.

My focus

I work as a Researcher for the Interim Management arm of Savannah. Alongside my colleague, Lucy Berkhout, I handle a broad range of appointments across all functions for clients ranging from SMEs to FTSE 100 businesses. Being responsible for our distinguished network of high-calibre Interim executives, I aim to provide intelligence that is essential to our candidate search process in order to ensure that our clients’ needs are met efficiently.

As our candidates know all too well, the key to success in Interim is in the strength of the relationships that are formed, and it is this aspect that motivates me most in my role. It doesn’t take long to realise that at the senior end of the Interim market in which we operate, it’s a very close-knit community. I really enjoy getting to know our Interims and it’s those close relationships that allows us to ensure our clients’ needs are met effectively.

My motivation

What I really love about my role is the fast-paced nature of Interim. Working across all functions and sectors means that my role is also really varied – I can be searching for a Marketing Director for a globally renowned retail brand one day, and then a CFO for a Private Equity backed technology company the next.
