Partner, Customer, Marketing and Commercial Practice
Kate has operated within customer, communications and marketing functions for 25 years, in industry and in executive search. Kate advises clients seeking commercial growth from transformative customer engagement and advocacy. She covers all marketing, customer, brand, performance and communications disciplines, including the specialisms of digital & direct, content, media, creative, insight/analytics, partnerships and martech. Throughout her career, Kate has developed an extensive network of talent in the UK, Europe and USA.
Since graduating in 1995 with a First Class degree in Business Studies, I have worked in client service roles, firstly in the marcomms industry and then in executive search. The first half of my career was in global advertising and brand agencies with secondments into client side marketing departments. I ended up running Leo Burnett’s (Publicis Groupe) 85 headcount client service department as a member of the Executive Board. The second half of my career has been in executive search, advising companies needing customer leadership during wave after wave of successive and significant transformation in the marketing and commercial functions.
As the Head of the Customer, Marketing and Commercial Practice at Savannah, I am responsible for helping clients seeking growth and positive change from the corporate functions that primarily influence customers. For 25 years I have been a specialist in the disciplines of customer, marketing and communications, but I’ve retained a broad sectorial spread. Why? Because in my experience, many of the world’s very best marketing and customer leaders have multi-sector experience from which they draw upon to create diversity of thinking and diversity of teams. And when the marketing function is arguably being challenged more than any other corporate function, knowledge from customer-centric companies, sector to sector (especially when sector boundaries continue to blur), and working with businesses from early stage to mature multinationals, gives us valuable insight for a range of clients.
I feel truly privileged to have the opportunity to talk with some of the world’s most interesting people every single day. In our industry, when all we have is people and all we do is people, getting to know people as people is supremely motivating for me. I could not be happier than when candidates become clients and clients become candidates, borne from relationships built on integrity, trust and quality of care and counsel.
Why I like working at Savannah
Working with people who have genuine shared values is imperative yet sometimes hard to find. Savannah’s people are open, transparent and collaborative, they demonstrate high integrity and they blend IQ and EQ. And overall they think about leadership far more broadly than executive search alone, and with our range of services, our platform for growth in an ever-changing leadership landscape is highly compelling.
