Nick is an experienced interim executive recruiter having placed candidates at executive board and management board level across a range of functions and industries. He has made numerous senior executive placements including permanent and interim CEOs, CFOs, CMOs, CROs, CCOs, HRDs and CDOs. At Savannah Nick specialises in senior interim appointments for our Customer, Marketing, Commercial Practice, working with businesses seeking the immediate deployment of leaders able to unlock their growth potential.
My career has included spells in executive search and interim management with periods as both a sector specialist and functional specialist in a variety of areas. I have been recruiting senior leaders for over a decade, beginning my career at a leading global recruitment business, Robert Walters. My initial focus was recruiting programme and change management leadership roles before moving to a smaller UK based recruiter with an initial focus on interim CFO appointments. My role developed and I soon led the practice, with my personal remit developing more broadly across C-Suite interim roles, predominantly across the healthcare sector. Eventually, I joined Penna to head up their Government Practice where I was retained for both permanent and interim recruitment campaigns working on some of most senior roles across the UK civil service, as well as working with regulators and the wider public sector. In 2015 I joined GatenbySanderson as a Partner within their healthcare practice winning and executing executive search and interim management mandates, as well as heading up the interim healthcare practice.
Since joining Savannah in 2018 I have appointed a range of roles including Chief Executive, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Revenue Officer, Chief Digital Officer, Chief Commercial Officer in sectors ranging from technology, financial services, healthcare, and gaming.
Outside of recruitment, I have had on/off involvement in politics including spells as an elected councilor for a local authority and significant campaign experience.
I lead Savannah’s Commercial Practice with the majority of my appointments being for interim leadership roles at a C-Suite or Director level in areas like commercial, growth, marketing, digital, brand, customer, sales, and business development.
A significant amount of my work comes in Private Equity or Venture Capital backed businesses where the urgency for growth often based on an impending exit or their deal cycle makes quick access to high-level commercial resource a really attractive proposition for both the investors and the boards or senior leadership teams, within those companies
Clients will engage me for far more than just filling an executive gap. My typical instructions are from companies and investors wanting access to business leaders to help their business transform and grow. My practice gives businesses of all sizes quick access to executive level business leaders, access to leaders they cannot access on the permanent side, in addition to flexible and specialist access to an executive resource.
I am motivated at the prospect of influencing the success of the customers that we work with (both candidates and clients) as well as being part of the success and growth of my team and the wider Savannah Group.
I have a real passion for people, behaviors, and psychology – the recruitment industry has offered me an opportunity to maintain my passion in these areas. I have the opportunity to meet and speak with fascinating people on a daily basis, these interactions are essential for developing your antennae for identifying talent.
The changing nature of the consumer market and how digital technology is rapidly changing the way we access goods and services means that for businesses to successfully grow, they must keep up with the pace of change and even get ahead of it to ensure that their customers experience matches that societal evolution.
What fascinates and motivates me is getting under the skin of the types of experience, personalities, styles and behaviours that are successful in certain environments and by harnessing my interest in this for the benefit our candidates and clients.

The interim team is a very close team and we are never short of joke or two, even if that is usually at my expense (I appear to be the only Arsenal fan in a team of Tottenham fans).
